Jeremy Wallace came to Xavier's School a panicky young adolescent with pudding for a spine and a mutation he couldn't control. He had no direction and he was afraid of everything. He was sweet and shy and nervous, young for his age.

He leaves Xavier's School as close to a man as any boy ever was at 18 years old. He can use his mutation practically and constructively as well as destructively. He hasn't lost control of his powers in a long time. There are scars on his heart, memories of love and laughter and memories he will always wish he could forget. But there is also hope. And dreams. And with dreams, a direction.

This is a happy ending. In as much as anything ends.

It is established through a series of phone calls today exchanged with various people at Xavier's School. that Jeremy Wallace did not appear as scheduled in New Haven, is not with his sister, and does not appear to have gotten on the train.

Cora Wallace is driving up to Westchester in a big van, fueled largely on gum, donut holes and Mountain Dew. (That is, Cora is thusly fueled. Not the van. The van is diesel-fueled.)
